The Kingdom has allocated over 276 Billion SR for the educational sector in the 8th plan. Recent budgets, and the new projects under way suggests that this budget will undertake further expansion. “Education for the knowledge economy” has been specifically targeted by the plan. There is universal agreement that a key enabler of the needed transformation toward the knowledge economy and growth of the knowledge industries is driven by education and training. KIF 2008 will focus on how best to achieve the objectives set by the plan and the challenges and opportunities the various alternatives offer.
